Why I Do Not Use My Full Legal Name on Substack
An explanation should not be necessary, but I have promised transparency
Pissing off liberals is dangerous business, which the above headline makes immediately evident.
This is something most of us know but continue to stay quiet about.
Just recently, I ended a 30-year relationship with someone who has the power to scuttle me in any job application process. He told me that because I had refused to vote for a war criminal, it made me “part of the problem.” Of course, I remained polite and took that lashing, swallowed my pride, and then thanked him for respecting the professionalism of our relationship and the need to be adults about this.
Because it was the smart thing to do.
I don’t make any money off this blog, and I cannot afford to piss these people off. I have to pay rent, buy food, and be able to reproduce my physical body and its consciousness for the simple fact that those things permit me to engage in this process and to write and resist on a day-to-day basis.
Nobody — and I mean nobody — holds more institutional power than the liberal class, whose faithful run the media, most NGOs, and corporate America’s universities and adjacent institutions of power. In one of my last content editor jobs, they told me not to write anything critical of the Democratic Party, plain and simple. No, I can’t prove it — not without going to jail — and since I can’t make a living off this blog, at least for the time being, I certainly cannot attach my legal name to the page. What I can do is continue to cite my sources and offer documentation and a logical and critical reading of contemporary political news.
In the meantime, like I said, I protest the Gazan Genocide at the 405 Freeway and California Blvd every Sunday in Long Beach, California, lunchtime, 11- 2 PM. You can come and meet me in person if you think I am ashamed of anything I have said. Feel free.
I do not fear dying for what I believe in, but I do fear having my voice taken away via economic warfare and having nothing to live on, which is how the government controls a good number of us.
Let’s finish burying this rotten party of corrupt jackasses and turn our sights on the pachyderms, who are also shitting the bed now in spectacular, Dem-like fashion.
Funny, but in the 1980s, I never imagined I would be insulting the Republicans by comparing them to their evil Dem rivals.
I can’t say I wouldn’t feel insulted myself if I were accused of being a liberal Democrat.
But I mean that, too, and for the liberal Dems who supported Genocide: You deserve worse. I don’t know everything, but I know this much: Unless you’re ready to tangle with and ultimately demolish both sides, you’re not serious about left politics in 21st-century America.
That’s a fact.
Again, I was asked, and I’ve answered. I will be as transparent as I can be both now and in the future.
Addendum: If this blog ever generates enough money, I promise to have an unveiling ceremony and share my name. When I get enough subscribers, I’ll add a perk or two for the paying faithful, but I swear that I won’t put my pieces behind any kind of paywall. I’d love it if you could subscribe and donate, but I don’t do this for the money.
Yours,
Robert Hunter Biden
